Snap Pump: A Snap-Through Mechanism for a Pulsatile Pump
نویسندگان
چکیده
Pulsatile flow is widespread in nature, but replicating such impulsive periodic pumping routines with traditional rotary actuators complex and energetically inefficient. We demonstrate the feasibility of an actuator capable generating displacement by exploiting bistable equilibrium a simple mechanism. These kind mechanisms, commonly known as snap-through offer benefit sudden release elastic energy at interface between two stable structural configurations. This property has been employed certain to drive abrupt motions mechanical systems. Here, we use this principle inflation/deflation routine fluid-filled cavity, thus peaked, pulsatile flow, comparable that encountered biological Assessment various stages actuation system shows sharp drop occurs from hydraulic work, highlighting need for improved design elements involved stage actuation.

متن کاملA comparison of CRIB, CRIB II, SNAP, SNAPII and SNAP-PE scores for prediction of mortality in critically ill neonates
Abstract Background: Clinical Risk Index of Babies (CRIB), Score for Neonatal Acute Physiology (SNAP), an update of the Clinical Risk Index for Babies score (CRIB II) and Score for Neonatal Acute Physiology - Perinatal Extension (SNAP-PE) are scoring devices developed in neonatal intensive care units. This study reviewed these scoring systems in critically ill neonates to determine how well th...

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the Score for Neonatal Acute Physiology and the Score for Neonatal Acute Physiology Perinatal Extension as neonatal mortality predictors in our neonatal intensive care unit, and to compare their results. METHODS: All newborn infants admitted to our neonatal intensive care unit from March 1997 through December 1998 were prospectively evaluated just at completion of 24 hour...
متن کاملSnap-Through Instability of Graphene on Substrates
We determine the graphene morphology regulated by substrates with herringbone and checkerboard surface corrugations. As the graphene-substrate interfacial bonding energy and the substrate surface roughness vary, the graphene morphology snaps between two distinct states: (1) closely conforming to the substrate and (2) remaining nearly flat on the substrate. Since the graphene morphology is stron...
متن کاملVesicle Priming in a SNAP
In this issue of Neuron, Burgalossi et al. investigate synaptic vesicle priming by using presynaptic Ca(2+) uncaging at a small, glutamatergic, central synapse. Combining this technique with mouse genetics, the authors demonstrate that vesicle priming during ongoing neural activity can be limited by the recycling of recently used SNARE complexes.
